Norfolk Tourism is promoting the county’s credentials as the UK’s premier birdwatching destination at this year’s British Birdfair. More than 20,000 wildlife enthusiasts are expected to descend on the Birdfair at Rutland Water, from August 19 to 21. The event, now in its 23rd year, is known as the birdwatcher’s ‘Glastonbury’, the world’s largest international birdwatching event www.birdfair.org.uk.
Birdwatchers can also find out much more online at www.visitnorfolk.co.uk/birdwatching, which features links to RSPB, Norfolk Wildlife Trust, National Trust and Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust reserves and offers online accommodation booking for birding breaks.
Visitors to the Norfolk Tourism stand will be invited to enter a draw to win a £300 voucher towards a holiday with Norfolk Country Cottages www.norfolkcottages.co.uk and a three-night short break at Dairy Barns Hickling’s new self-catering Cowman’s Cottage, with an arrival supper for two, www.dairybarns.co.uk.

Pensthorpe’s starring role in BBC Springwatch has also given a great boost to our profile. The Birdfair gives us a fantastic opportunity to showcase what the county has to offer.”
Publicity material at the show will include Birdwatching in West Norfolk, Birds in the Brecks, and Walking & Cycling in Broadland leaflets.
